Keroronpa and Mimizukyun are the best Ratatan characters if you pick by Super Fever: Keroronpa's bombs hit bosses and crowds at once, and Mimizukyun's ice arrows add Freeze. All eight playable Ratatans are unlocked from the start: Harigittan, Keroronpa, Mimizukyun, Nyandola, Pyokorappa, Kamonelo, Mashuma and Buttonda. You move your Ratatan freely and lead its Cobun troops with rhythm commands.

Who are the best characters in Ratatan?
Keroronpa and Mimizukyun take S tier, with Keroronpa the first pick because one skill covers both boss damage and crowd clearing. This ranking comes from a player's November 8, 2025 rating of each Super Fever skill for boss damage, crowd control and utility.
| S | Keroronpa, Mimizukyun |
|---|---|
| A | Kamonelo, Harigittan, Pyokorappa |
| B | Mashuma, Buttonda |
| C | Nyandola |
Two changes landed after that ranking. On November 11, 2025, Super Fever gained Super Armor, so knockback and status effects can no longer cancel it. On January 21, 2026, Nyandola's Mew Mew Mania was fixed so its attack bonus also applies to Good judgments, not only Just. Treat Nyandola's C as the older verdict.
A low tier still has a use. Mashuma leaves a lasting damage zone, Buttonda pairs projectile protection with a Critical Rate buff, and Nyandola speeds up and powers up everyone nearby.
What does each Ratatan character do?
Each Ratatan has a Super Fever skill you trigger with a full Tension Gauge and a Ratatability passive you upgrade at the Quest Board. Pick by the effect you will actually use.
| Character | Cobun | Super Fever skill | Ratatability passive (base → upgraded) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keroronpa | Frogs | Bop & Drop: bombs rain on a wide area | Cobun HP on revival +20% → +30% |
| Mimizukyun | Owls | Frosty Feathers: ice arrows forward, applies Freeze | Squad Skill damage on Just +10% → +15% |
| Kamonelo | Ducks | Cuddle Canopy: barrier blocks projectiles, cuts damage to allies in range | Cobun HP recovery on Fall In 5% → 7% |
| Harigittan | Spiky sword-and-shield Cobun | Hoglet Hold: a tower that blocks enemies; you can stand on it | Damage reduction while Guarding 15% → 20% |
| Pyokorappa | Rabbits | Sassy Symphony: musical notes in an arc that explode on hit | Normal Attack damage on Just +10% → +15% |
| Mashuma | — | Fungal Fallout: a giant mushroom leaves a damage-over-time spore area | Status ailment damage +50% → +75% |
| Buttonda | — | Piggy Palisade: barrier around you blocks projectiles, raises allies' Critical Rate | Knockback power and resistance +30% → +60% |
| Nyandola | Spear-throwing cats | Mew Mew Mania: Move Speed and Attack Power up for Ratatans and Cobun in range | Move Speed and Wisdom +10% → +15% |
Compare what each percentage applies to, not just its size. Mashuma's +75% is for status ailment damage, while Keroronpa's +30% is Cobun HP when they revive. Mimizukyun and Pyokorappa both reward Just inputs, but on different attacks: Squad Skills for Mimizukyun, normal attacks for Pyokorappa.
Which Ratatan character is best for boss damage?
Keroronpa is the best boss-damage pick, with Mimizukyun as the alternative when you want Freeze. Pyokorappa and Mashuma hit in different shapes that can suit a specific fight better than their letter suggests.
Keroronpa: bombs for bosses and crowds
Bop & Drop drops bombs over a wide area, so one activation hurts the boss and clears the small enemies around it. That coverage is why it ranks first.
Mimizukyun: ice arrows and Freeze
Frosty Feathers fires ice arrows straight ahead and applies Freeze, letting you lock down or interrupt a target. Aim it at the enemy you want stopped, and don't assume every boss can be frozen; check the fight on the Ratatan bosses page.
Pyokorappa: exploding notes ahead of you
Sassy Symphony throws notes in an arc that explode on hit. It is a reliable all-round attack for clearing what's in front of you and chipping a boss, without relying on Freeze.
Mashuma: a damage zone for bosses that stay put
Fungal Fallout's spore area keeps hurting anything standing in it. It is strong against stationary bosses and weak against ones that keep moving, which is why it sits at B.
What is the best Ratatan class for defense and support?
Kamonelo is the best defensive pick, and Harigittan is next. Kamonelo's barrier stops projectiles and cuts damage for allies inside it, which can save a run that is going wrong. Harigittan's tower blocks enemies and gives you high ground.
Buttonda's barrier is centered on you, so you have to walk it into the fight to protect anyone; that awkward positioning kept it at B. Nyandola's speed and attack buff only helps allies inside its range, so stay with your group instead of running ahead.
Who is the Ratatan bunny character, and what is Lunabounce?
The bunny is Pyokorappa, the horn-playing Ratatan who leads rabbit Cobun. If you saw the name Lunabounce, that is Pyokorappa's tribe, not a separate character. Pick Pyokorappa if you want to build around accurate normal attacks: its passive boosts Normal Attack damage on Just, and Sassy Symphony gives it an explosive special.
What does Nyandola do in Ratatan?
Nyandola is the bell-carrying cat idol who leads spear-throwing cat Cobun and buffs the team. Mew Mew Mania raises Move Speed and Attack Power for every Ratatan and Cobun in range, and the passive raises Move Speed and Wisdom. Since the January 2026 fix, the attack bonus works on Good judgments too, which makes Nyandola easier to use than the old ranking suggests.
How do you unlock and upgrade character skills?
Unlock each Super Fever skill at the Quest Board, then fire it with that character's rhythm command once the Tension Gauge is full. Ratatability upgrades come from Dark Ratatan quests on the same board and were added on December 24, 2025.
Unlock Super Fever at the Quest Board
Get the character's special before you plan around its barrier, damage zone or buff.
Fill the Tension Gauge and enter the command
Successful rhythm commands build Tension. When the gauge is full, enter the character's Super Fever command. A small amount of Tension is left afterward, and the skill can't be interrupted.
Finish Dark Ratatan quests to upgrade the passive
The right-hand numbers in the table are upgraded values, not what you start with.
If rhythm commands still trip you up, practice them first with Ratatan how to play. The ship that travels with every Ratatan isn't playable; it's covered on the Ratatan Fortrun page.
