Ratatan combines rhythm commands, side-scrolling action, and roguelike adventures. You move your Ratatan freely while entering commands to direct your Cobuns, choosing when to advance, attack, or retreat. Battles can involve more than 100 characters; that is the battle scale, rather than the player count. The journey begins on Rataport, where the Ratatans dream of reaching the Everafter and meeting the Goddess.

FAQ
Ratatan is a rhythm roguelike action game where you command Cobuns to the beat while moving your own character freely. Positioning, rhythm inputs, and retreating all matter during its side-scrolling battles.
Ratatan is available on Windows PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. Buy and install the PC game through the Ratatan Steam store. The current full release cannot be played on the original Nintendo Switch; that version and a GOG release are in preparation.
No. Ratatan is only on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no Android or iOS version.
Ratatan supports offline single-player and online co-op for up to four players, with no local co-op on one system. You can complete all content alone. Console online co-op requires Nintendo Switch Online, PlayStation Plus, or an Xbox Game Pass subscription with online multiplayer, depending on your platform.
Crossplay across Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 is still being developed and has no committed launch date. The developer's 2026-10-16 update says platform approval is required. Earlier release notes and the FAQ listed support between Steam, Switch 2, and Xbox, and the Xbox store still displays cross-platform labels; those listings do not establish availability under the newer developer update.
Game Pass cloud play still requires a separate Ratatan purchase. The Xbox store lists cloud play with Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate and explicitly requires buying the game. This cloud-play option does not mean the subscription includes the game itself.
Ratatan is a separate game and a spiritual successor to Patapon, rather than a Patapon sequel. Game designer Hiroyuki Kotani also worked on Patapon. Ratatan has its own world, characters, and gameplay.
Steam credits TVT Co. Ltd. and Ratata Arts as Ratatan's developers, with Game Source Entertainment as publisher; Kazuto Sakajiri is its producer. The Xbox store instead lists Game Source Entertainment in its developer field. The development team also credits Hiroyuki Kotani as game designer and Kenei Nakasha as director.
Nelnal is Ratatan's character designer, and Kemmei Adachi is its composer. Nelnal's concept artwork helped establish the game's visual identity.
Tomokazu Sugita voices Fortrun and Hibana Tsukishiro voices Harigittan in the Japanese cast, as announced in the September 2025 Early Access broadcast. Sally Amaki voices Pyokorappa.
Use Welcome Mode for an easier start, and adjust input timing under Options > Audio > Calibration. Prioritize adventure upgrades at the Ratatan Dock and Support Desk, then equip stronger weapons as you find them. Welcome Mode does not change the story and is disabled in co-op.
The full release extends the main story through World 6 and has four episodes. World 6 contains the final story boss, while Episodes 3 and 4 add the later story content. Worlds and episodes are different parts of the progression structure.
