Story and Ending

Crow proposes creating wonder with Cobun instead of creating Humans. That is the turning point of the Ratatan ending: after the final battle, Mifa sees a possible future in the companions who have been adventuring with you. The journey begins with the Ratatans hoping to meet the Goddess in the Everafter, and ends with a conversation about who can give their planet a future.

What Is the Ratatan Story About?

Ratatan follows the inhabitants of Rataport as they set out for the Everafter to meet the Goddess. They share that dream despite their different appearances and personalities, and keep pursuing it through repeated failures. You are accompanying creatures carrying their friends' hopes, with a destination that means something to the whole island.

Their home belongs to Ratatan Land, an island group surrounded by the ocean on Planet Redo. Humanity no longer exists there. Fortrun, the singing ship, and Crow, the black bird, travel with the Ratatans in search of the Goddess. If you want to follow the ship's role alongside the story, see Ratatan Fortrun.

The story also returns you to Rataport for smaller conversations. One player describes waking on the island and encountering short exchanges at headquarters between adventures. Later episodes add dialogue for Rataport's NPCs, so the home island is part of the storytelling as well as the place you return to between outings.

What Happens in the Ratatan Ending?

Mifa takes her body back from Seed, apologizes to the Ratatans, and explains that the planet was created by Humans as a place to play and experience wonder. Seed has just protested that things will not work this way, struggling to finish her explanation. Mifa tells her she did well and can rest.

Crow meets Mifa after the final battle, with Fortrun waiting behind them.

Crow is surprised to meet the Goddess. Mifa says Seed is a goddess too, then explains her own purpose: helping Humans feel that sense of wonder. She waited a long time for a Human to return. When nobody did, she began to think it might be the end.

That revelation changes how you can understand the journey. The Ratatans have spent it trying to reach a divine figure; the figure they finally meet has also been waiting for someone. Their search for the Goddess brings them face to face with her own worry about the planet's future.

Mifa discusses the plan to use Cobun and questions the idea of forcing wonder into being. After losing, she calls the situation game over. Crow then offers another possibility: instead of creating Humans, try working with the Cobun. His reason comes from adventuring alongside them. He has felt how much room they still have to grow.

Crow's proposal gets an instant Good idea! from the Ratatans.

The Ratatans enthusiastically support him. Mifa notices that the planet's activity has risen and runs the numbers. Her conclusion is hopeful: they might be able to store enough wonder to rival even the Humans. The credits follow, ending with a thank-you message.

The important distinction is in that word might. Mifa sees a possibility in the Cobun's growth. The closing conversation gives the group something to pursue together, with their own adventures becoming part of the answer to her problem.

How Do You Reach the Ratatan Ending?

Beat the final boss, Seed, in World 6 during Episode 4. Clearing World 5 for the first time only finishes Episode 1; you still have to clear Episodes 2 and 3 to open Episode 4, and World 6 becomes reachable from Episode 3 onward.

The unlock conditions, including the Oath Level requirement and the Bonboya Gate display bug, are on Ratatan how to unlock Episode 3. Seed's three phases are covered on Ratatan bosses.

Can You Keep Playing After the Ending?

Yes. After clearing the final boss and reaching the ending, you retain your save data and can replay any episode you like. The finale includes an ending song recorded with an orchestra, giving the last conversation its musical send-off.

You finish with both the story's closing turn toward the Cobun's potential and the freedom to revisit the journey. Return to an episode you want to experience again, or use the boss guide when your next goal is another run at a particular fight.
